Get yourself into the humanitarian picture

The well-known State of the Humanitarian System report provides a system-level mapping and assessment of international humanitarian assistance.

To do this, key criteria for evaluating the humanitarian system performance and progress are defined; every three years, the system is reassessed against these criteria and lessons learned are shared.

The report is commissioned by the Active Learning Network for Accountability and Performance in Humanitarian Action (ALNAP) and authored by Humanitarian Outcomes.

They are halfway through the research process towards the second edition of the report. One key building block of that research is a wide survey of the system; the survey’s success will depend on the number of responses. The more responses, the more accurate the picture of how the humanitarian sector is performing.

Humanitarian practitioners from across the globe and at all levels of seniority are invited to respond to the survey. So, if you would like to contribute to the report and make your experience count, please take the survey now (available also in Arabic, French and Spanish – see below).

A comprehensive picture of the shape and size of the humanitarian system and insights into the ‘bigger picture’ of trends and performance, the State of the Humanitarian System report was first published in 2012. The second edition will be released in July 2015.

ALNAP is a system-wide network of humanitarian practitioners dedicated to improving humanitarian performance through increased learning and accountability.
