Islamic Relief’s Disaster Preparedness and Response Unit (DPRU) is organising a 3day “implementing Sphere standards” training workshop. The aim of the course is to facilitate an understanding of the basis of the Sphere process and to enable the use of the handbook as a tool to improve the efficiency and accountability of the organization in humanitarian relief.

The course is designed particularly for Islamic Relief staff. The selected participants have relevant experience and have worked in the field of emergency response. The course is also open to outsiders involved in humanitarian assistance, including project managers, desk officers, nutritionists, logisticians and water/sanitation engineers, monitoring and evaluation specialists and financial auditors. It is worth mentioning that DPRU has trained more than 300 IR staff and other NGOs members on how to use the Sphere guidelines, and has distributed over 500 English, Arabic and French books worldwide.

This three-day course will be held at Bordesley Centre in Birmingham, UK.

Training will begin at 0845hrs. Each training day will finish at 17.30hrs.

Training Team Leader: Mr Osman head of the disaster Preparedness and Response Unit (qualified Sphere trainer). For more information please contact: Osman@islamic-relief.org.uk
