What does compliance to Sphere mean? - 2006/04/13 21:42 Ok, so we have the Sphere handbook - what does an agency do with it? I think compliance is an elegant and simple concept to discuss. Yet the question arises, how does one measure compliance? How would a program auditor understand if the agency was complying to its implicit commitment to the Humanitarian Charter and Minimum Standards?

For me, it is four things:
- application of the Humanitarian Charter and Code of Conduct
- application of the common standards in all projects
- application of the relevant technical standards
- demonstrated reflection on the appropriate application of the handbook to the context
