To respond to the ever increasing demand for capacity building, e-learning offers a reliable opportunity to scale-up capacity to provide learning opportunities to a range of humanitarian personnel. RedR India in partnership with the Sphere Project launched an initiative to develop an e-learning tool titled ‘Sphere in Humanitarian Practice’, which is expected to reinforce use of Sphere manual as a decision support tool/system by diverse actors.

Emphasising the need of a humanitarian approach in disaster situations, a public lecture on “Standards for Humanitarian Response” was delivered at the Jamsetji Tata Centre for Disaster Management, Mumbai, India on Tuesday 23^rd of October 2007 by members from the Sphere Project Board and Office: Ton van Zutphen, Linda Poteat, Dr. Unnikrishnan, Hani Eskandar and Professor and Chairperson of Jamsetji Tata Centre for Disaster Management Janki Andharia.

Crown Agents USA recently ran Sphere Project training for NGOs and international development companies in the Washington DC area from 2nd to 4th October 2007.

The Sphere Project is celebrating this year its 10th anniversary. In this occasion, a special report was published: "10 years of Sphere in Action, enhancing the quality and accountability of humanitarian action".
