Sphere Working Group in El Salvador

A. Activities
  • Training events for persons involved in the instutionalization of Sphere in El Salvador;
  • Events for the dissemination of the Humanitarian Charter and Minimum Standards for personnel from health organizations, local governments, and members of the National Emergency System and the National Emergency Commission;
  • Implementation of the Minimum Standards in institutional work;
  • The population’s participation in food assistance;
  • Use of modern technology by local committees for the supply and distribution of drinking water;
  • Dignified housing during reconstruction after the 2001 earthquake;
  • Fight against and control of communicable diseases;
  • Help for future mothers, nutritional control and food assistance;
  • Promotion of hygiene and environmental sanitation on sites;
  • Applying Sphere in disaster preparedness and local response;
B. The Sphere Group in El Salvador

C. Sphere Objective in El Salvador

Facilitate El Salvador’s institutionalization of the Humanitarian Charter, Minimum Standards and key indicators found in the Sphere Project Handbook, in order to identify the lessons learned, so that we can improve our Humanitarian response to existing risks and threats.

D. The Aim of Sphere in El Salvador

To improve the performance of the organizations involved in disaster response, through learning and the continuous institutionalization of the Humanitarian Charter and Minimum Standards for Disaster Response in El Salvador.
