Sphere announces the launch of its new interactive website
Tuesday, 30 May 2006
Come and join our new interactive website and become a member of the Sphere on-line Community – a Community dedicated to the Humanitarian Charter and the Minimum Standards in Disaster response.
This community aims to be a platform where all Sphere users can come together to share their field experience, learn from others, network, find useful learning resources or simply express their hopes, concerns or ideas.
This on-line Community is primarily field focused. It collects knowledge from the field to be used in the field. It hopes to provide practical and rapid support to practitioners and to ease and accelerate the learning process of the Humanitarian Charter and the Minimum Standards in Disaster response.
To interact with the community, you have first to register yourself and then login. Please make sure to fill the form completely so that others can contact you. You can use a nick name if you wish to stay anonymous. After login, a user menu will appear at the left hand side of your page. Once logged in, you can:
Share your experience: This might be the most useful contribution to the Sphere Community. You can now post a short story, about your Sphere field experience. Think to follow the proposed guidelines for how can your story be useful for others. Your contribution will be reviewed before it's published by other members of the community.
Receive Sphere top stories (Stories and News) on your Desktop: If you want to receive Sphere News on your desktop without having to browse our website, you can download this small Newsfeed reader and it will do the job for you. Just download it and install it. Nothing more.
Submit News: You can submit news about Sphere training, translation, regional events or Sphere application in a specific disaster response.
Upload a file: Upload a management tool, a local version of the handbook or just a document you feel important. You need to be logged in to access this function in the Download/Upload section.
Post your comment: Add a comment on any page of the Sphere handbook, of News or of a story. At the end of each published page, you will find a form where you can add your comment. This form is only available if you are logged in.
Ask a question: Post a question or give your feedback about a posted question in one of the Forums. Forums are moderated by experienced Sphere users.
Network: Search our members database and Network with others.
