1st Sphere ToT in Arabic held in Amman, Jordan, 20-28 June 2007 PDF Imprimir

As part of the Sphere Project promotion programme of the Humanitarian Charter and Minimum Standards in Disaster Response, 23 trainers from 9 Arab countries representing 17 organisations recently graduated in the first Sphere Global Training of Trainers conducted in Arabic. The training took place in Amman (Jordan) from 20- 28 June 2007. The event was an opportunity to test the Sphere training pack and trainers guide in Arabic, which are due to be officially launched later this year.

“This is the most serious action to transfer knowledge and institute the Minimum Standards in the region because it delivers the training and provides the training pack along with the handbook in the native language which secures the sustainability of the knowledge. This should facilitate the knowledge and skills trickling down to all levels involved in the humanitarian response.” said Moustafa Osman, the lead trainer.

The training came at the right time, a time where the region is exposed to a number of in some cases escalating humanitarian situations in Iraq, Palestinian Territories, Lebanon, Syria and Jordan.
