Dear Members of the Sphere Project,

I’m Kevin Garwood, the main developer of Project35, an open source software project that is designed to generated data entry applications based on data models.  The purpose of the project is to provide simple robust data management tools that could help humanitarian and scientific organisations which have interests in the developing world.  The software is free, and is available on our web site at: http://www.project35software.org

The team has taken great interest in the Sphere Project and decided to make electronic forms roughly based on some of the minimum standards in disaster response you published in the Sphere Handbook.  We hope your members have a look at the examples we’ve made for Shelter and Food Security.

I’m writing to you for two reasons.  First, we’d like you to try out the software and tell us what you think.  Our philosophy is if you think it's relevant to your IT use cases then please use it, otherwise - don't! We hope we can generate some discussion amongst your members so that they gain a better understanding of their own software requirements in the field.  Second, we’re both interested in joining software projects in areas of disaster response, whether they use the software we’ve made or not.

Enjoy the software and thanks for the inspiration,
Kevin
