A three-day training in Doha in November 2008

From 1-3 November 2008, Qatar Charity organised a three-day intensive disaster response training for its own staff and worldwide partners. The training included introduction and familiarisation with the Sphere standards. Besides Sphere, the training included modules on exploring the most efficient means and practices of emergency and disaster response, resources and needs assessment during disasters, introduction to Geneva Conventions and Protocols, introduction to international humanitarian law. Members of the UNHCR with focus on the Middle-East also shared how they work with partners.

Qatar Charity (QC) is a non-government organisation which was established in 1980 in order to support the Qatari society and other needy communities abroad. Its mission is to support the abilities of the most needy groups to fulfil human dignity and social justice in cooperation with partners. Its vision is to be an example, a pioneer distinguished Islamic institution which combines originality, creativity and professionalism in the field of humanitarian aid and development.

Sphere Arabic ToT in Dubai in December 2008

Over the last ten days of December 2008, Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Foundation will be hosting a Sphere Arabic Training of Trainers (ToT). The training is being organised as part of its desire to improve effective and accountable service provision and to institutionalise Sphere.

The Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Foundation is a Dubai-based Foundation launched with an endowment of AED 37 billion (US $10 billion) as a personal initiative by H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, during his speech at the World Economic Forum in Jordan in May 2007. The Foundation aims to develop the knowledge capabilities of the Arab World, to introduce a future generation of regional leaders capable of facing future challenges to attain sustainable development.

Kudoos to Qatar Red Crescent.The conducting many training programs in Disaster Management. I am proud to be a Volunteer undergoing the Basic course along with a team of scouts of MES Indian School,Doha, Qatar and the team leader Mr Shakil Ahmed Kakvi.
