The Sphere Project is very glad to announce that John Damerell has been appointed as the new Sphere Project Manager starting from the 23rd of February 2009.
John has spent many years working in various positions in Africa, Asia, the Balkans and the Middle East, for organisations including the Lutheran World Federation, UNHCR and DANIDA. He was involved in the development of Sphere from the beginning from a field perspective, and from 2002 to 2005 he represented the Lutheran World Federation on the Sphere Management Committee. Since becoming an independent consultant in January 2006, John has again used Sphere during assessments and evaluations while on field assignments. John was already appointed as the Sphere Project Manager during May-November 2007 to cover the maternity leave of the previous Sphere Project Manager, Alison Joyner. We are very happy to welcome John to the Sphere team.
The Sphere team and Management Board want to use this opportunity to thank Alison Joyner for her dedication for the last five years as Project Manager. Her professional as well as human qualities were very much appreciated by all who have worked with her. We wish her all the best for the next steps.
