2. Training course

In this course we modified it to be 3 days instead of two because during the last course we found two days can’t meet training requirement and put pressure on both trainer and the trainees for catching things and get maximum benefit from the training, therefore we extend the training course to 3 days, which enable us to increase the activities. Arrival of the participants was on 3 June to Erbil Airport except 5 of them we preferred bringing them by land because they are from local councils and we tried avoiding what happened last time with one of the council representatives and return to Baghdad was on 7 June 2010 by land except 3 persons from Kerbala two of them are being VIP as Munir said because they are working in Kerbala Provincial Council and return by land could interfere with their security; however, the actual training course was held on 4-6 June 2010.

In addition to the case study that we are using in the training course, this time we designed a scenario for simulation in which we aimed enable the participants to deal with the available resources and usage of the knowledge (they got during the training) in circumstances of crises which was Mitche storm. From the movie I’ll send to you can see how the participants (even MoDM staff) felt as if real situation. In the simulation we divided the participants to the following groups:

a) IDPs
b) Host community
c) Governmental parties (Ministry and councils)
d) International Organization (two organizations called A+ B)
e) Local NGO (Two also called A+ B)
f) Media

3. Logistical arrangements

Based on the feedback from the trainees in the first round, we have tried improving that through changing the Hotel and training hall.

4. Action Plan

We are planning to gather MoDM selected staffs from the following governorates (Ninewa, Salahal Din, Kirkuk, Basrah, Missan, Thi Qar and Muthana) in one course more and will see how many IOM staff we can add, this is in order to close this activity according to our plan before August and hopefully the next course will be in July.
