The Sphere Project encourages both the translation and the reproduction of the Sphere Handbook, as this is seen as an important way of disseminating Sphere principles and standards and of ensuring ownership at local level.
In order to ensure that translations duly reflect the original text, the Sphere Project office has developed translation guidelines. However, given that it does not have the resources to operate further quality control, the Sphere Project does not take responsibility for locally translated versions of the Sphere Handbook.
Other than the Sphere Handbook, this disclaimer also applies to the variety of other Sphere-related tools and materials that are developed locally, such as adaptations of the Handbook for use at community level.
