Yet another successful Sphere Training of Trainers has just concluded.It was an Arabic language ToT with trainers from 3 different countries and participants from 9 different countries, representing 21 different organisations: Red Crescent Societies, local and international NGOs as well as a Government, UN and donor representatives.
One of the observations from the Sphere Arabic ToT at the end of 2007 in Jordan was the need for a similar training to take place in the Western part of the Middle-East to encourage participation from the Maghreb countries. The Sphere Arabic ToT held in Hammamet, Tunisia, from 13-22 November 2009 was a successful response to that as almost half of the 25 participants were from Morocco, Tunisia and Algeria. Also the gender balance was an improvement from the previous training.
As the lead-trainer, Moustafa Osman, remarked: "The participants were all keen and talented. I have high expectations from the follow up of this training and the continued institutionalisation of Sphere in the Arabic speaking region."
