The Joint Standards Initiative is gaining momentum in a number of crucial areas

Robert Schofield has now started as the Joint Standards Initiative (JSI) Coordinator, having taken his post in August. Hosted in London by CAFOD, the official Catholic aid agency for England and Wales, a new JSI Administrator will join him at the end of September.

Significant funding has been pledged by the Danish International Development Agency (Danida) and the Steering Committee for Humanitarian Response (SCHR), towards the overall budget of CHF 890,000.

The JSI Working Group will meet on 27 September 2012 in Geneva and begin the process of shaping and overseeing the major consultation with stakeholders, to gather views on the use and application of standards and how humanitarian standards can become more coherent and relevant.

The Stakeholder Consultation is being planned and the Concept Note for this piece of work will be made available by the end of September. The JSI will be seeking Independent Consultants to support this major consultation exercise.

One aspect of the consultation will involve a series of conversations with humanitarian and development workers, agencies, donors, academics, affected populations and others at events in the global South, Europe and the US over the next six months.

For further information please contact the JSI.
