The Sphere Project appoints training and communications staff

28 February 2011 | Sphere Project

The Sphere Project announces that Martin Fisher and Lori Werner have joined its staff in Geneva, strengthening the areas of learning and training as well as communications.

Martin Fisher will spend six months with the Sphere Project, covering the maternity leave of the Training and Learning Management senior officer, Veronica Foubert. His main responsibilities are to develop learning materials and learning management systems to accompany the new Sphere Handbook 2011 edition, to be launched on 14 April.

Martin joins the Sphere Project office after working for nine years for the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) in its zone and field offices. Most recently, he spent four months as planning, monitoring and evaluation manager at the Middle East and North Africa zone office. His IFRC experience includes missions in Haiti and Uzbekistan, as well as facilitating learning events and programmes.

Lori Werner joins the Sphere team as a Communications support intern. Over the next three months, she will strengthen Sphere's media outreach on the occasion of the launch of the Sphere Handbook 2011 edition. She will identify opportunities to promote the Sphere Project, support its social media strategy and contribute to the development of a new Sphere website.

Lori is finishing her Master of Arts in International Non-Governmental Organizations at Webster University in Geneva. Over the past four years she has been heavily involved with publications and promotion of the Humanitarian Conference organized annually by Webster University.
