UNICEF to offer Sphere e-learning course to staff

UNICEF logoThe United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) will integrate the Sphere Handbook in Action e-learning course into its new learning platform.

As of next month, UNICEF staff across the world will be able to take the Sphere course on humanitarian principles and standards within their own online learning platform. The course will be available in English, Arabic, French and Spanish.

Founded in 1946 as a relief organization for children after World War II, UNICEF today involves more than 7,000 staff in 157 countries and territories around the world. UNICEF works for children's rights, survival, development and protection.

In June, UNICEF will launch a new learning and development online portal. The new platform will help the organisation to make training offerings available to staff in a more effective manner as well as monitor and encourage usage.

The Sphere e-learning course aims to increase the understanding and effective use of the Sphere Handbook, Humanitarian Charter and Minimum Standards in Humanitarian Response. An ambitious training program on Sphere principles and standards, it allows humanitarian workers to learn at their own pace in an autonomous manner.

In addition to UNICEF's new portal, the Sphere Handbook in Action e-learning course is also available on the staff development platforms of the following organisations:
